Silverstreet Ventures into the Social Media Industry
December 3rd, 2011
Silverstreet today proudly announced the continuation of its expansion and diversification plan with the launch of Silverstreet Social Media Ventures Sdn Bhd, its subsidiary which will be focused on all Social Media related activities for the Group commencing with the launch of the Boleh.La service (www.boleh.la).
“We are thrilled to see the pace with which we have been expanding lately and my hat goes off to all my great colleagues who have been working hard to make this happen. I feel that there are a lot of opportunities within the Social Media sector that a standard SMS aggregator may not have the resources or tools to take advantage of and thus our continued Group expansion strategy is taking us into an entirely new sector which we have high expectations for and which we feel we can optimize on with our experience from the mobile world” said President & CEO, Mr. Simon Landsheer.
The Boleh.La project will be initially geared towards the South East Asian market with a heavy emphasis on Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Hong Kong commencing its first level approach with a focus on free SMS, catchy email domains based on local slang and free email forwarding services. “Malaysia is an incredibly savvy internet market as is the larger South East Asian region. We feel that with the right marketing we can establish the necessary user base to create a strong foundation and to further build some interesting ideas we have in mind that we feel the local market will really connect well with” said Chief Strategy Officer and Silverstreets South East Asian expert, Mr. Ben Chong.

While we work in a booming industry with phenomenal growth and while we at Silverstreet are fortunate enough to say that we thoroughly enjoy our day to day business efforts, we have all regrettably received a chilling reminder of how fragile and delicate both the world as well as our lives are following the horrific events that recently took place in Japan.
While the holiday season is typically a slow business period in most industries, Silverstreet continues to move forward at a rapid pace having registered its highest single month of SMS traffic to date with an estimated 400 million SMS terminated across its platform during the month of December 2010.
