Silverstreet today proudly announced the continuation of its expansion and diversification plan with the launch of Silverstreet Social Media Ventures Sdn Bhd, its subsidiary which will be focused on all Social Media related activities for the Group commencing with the launch of the Boleh.La service (www.boleh.la).

“We are thrilled to see the pace with which we have been expanding lately and my hat goes off to all my great colleagues who have been working hard to make this happen. I feel that there are a lot of opportunities within the Social Media sector that a standard SMS aggregator may not have the resources or tools to take advantage of and thus our continued Group expansion strategy is taking us into an entirely new sector which we have high expectations for and which we feel we can optimize on with our experience from the mobile world” said President & CEO, Mr. Simon Landsheer.

The Boleh.La project will be initially geared towards the South East Asian market with a heavy emphasis on Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Hong Kong commencing its first level approach with a focus on free SMS, catchy email domains based on local slang and free email forwarding services. “Malaysia is an incredibly savvy internet market as is the larger South East Asian region. We feel that with the right marketing we can establish the necessary user base to create a strong foundation and to further build some interesting ideas we have in mind that we feel the local market will really connect well with” said Chief Strategy Officer and Silverstreets South East Asian expert, Mr. Ben Chong.

Through its presence in Africa, Europe and Asia Silverstreet maintains a goal of becoming an active member of the GSMA on a global scale.

Silverstreet declares that it has contributed a substantial donation to the Samenwerkende Hulp Organisaties (Cooperating Aid Organizations) in the Netherlands in an effort to fight the hunger being experienced throughout the region. Today, Silverstreet announced it has appointed the current Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Simon Landsheer to President and Chief Executive Officer to further solidify and strengthen its growth strategy moving forward.

Silverstreet’s founder and CEO to date Mr. Maikel Lambregts will take the position of Chairman of the Board from today onwards.

Mr. Landsheer’s main focus will be to ensure continued growth for Silverstreet as well as the repositioning of the company beyond its position of a SMS aggregator and more so towards that of an international telecom group. About Silverstreet:
Silverstreet, founded in 1999, is a specialist in Mobile Messaging (SMS) offering global MT termination options across more than 800 mobile networks worldwide. The company is primarily focused on mission critical traffic and high volumes (wholesale) clients reaching its peak SMS traffic performance in 2010 with a total volume of 2.4 Billion SMS terminated across its platform for the calendar year.

Silverstreet maintains a global footprint with teams spanning 10 countries and 3 continents servicing clients in over 100 countries around the world ranging from the A2P aggregator sector, banking, government and corporate entities.

In addition to the core SMS portfolio which Silverstreet maintains, the company is also actively involved within the VAS sector towards mobile operators and in niche market development for mobile products. Through its position and experience in the mobile market, Silverstreet fully expects to continue its aggressive and rapid expansion within the Asian and African markets. The company is a 100 percent owned by it’s top level management and holds interests in a variety of additional businesses.

While we work in a booming industry with phenomenal growth and while we at Silverstreet are fortunate enough to say that we thoroughly enjoy our day to day business efforts, we have all regrettably received a chilling reminder of how fragile and delicate both the world as well as our lives are following the horrific events that recently took place in Japan.

As the world mobilizes to help its fellow man in a time of need, Silverstreet has undertaken an internal company program funded entirely by the staff as well reinforced by the company itself to contribute to this global movement by donating in excess of 10,000 EUR to the Red Cross aid efforts.

“We understand that ten thousand euro will not save Japan on its own but its simply impossible to sit back and witness the tragedy that these people are experiencing without contributing in some way. Its just horrific to think that this could happen to any one of us at any time and I think its important to appreciate how small our world is and thus to help out when needed” said the Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Simon Landsheer.
Silverstreet is proud to take part in the global relief efforts and sincerely hopes that tragedies of this sort will not recur neither in Japan nor anywhere else in the world. The team at Silverstreet further hopes that this will be taken as an example by the companies within the telecommunications industry and across other sectors to follow with similar efforts.
Silverstreet extends its deepest thoughts and prayers to all those involved in this tragedy in Japan and wishes a speedy recovery to the nation and its people.

While the holiday season is typically a slow business period in most industries, Silverstreet continues to move forward at a rapid pace having registered its highest single month of SMS traffic to date with an estimated 400 million SMS terminated across its platform during the month of December 2010.

“We have made it a goal of ours to remain fully available across all of our departments 365 days of the year and this availability in addition to our experienced international team is to thank for the upsurge in holiday related traffic. While most companies are vacationing, we remain at our posts eager and ready to serve our clients” says Silverstreet Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Simon Landsheer.

With stated intentions to diversify its client base amongst niche corporate elements and a continued effort to expand on its regional presences in Africa, Europe and Asia 2011 stands to be a record-breaking year for the company.
