What is an issuer?

The issuer is the name you will see when using some of our verification types. The issuer is used for TOTP and Push via the Twizo Authenticator app and for verifications via messaging clients like Telegram, Facebook Messenger and LINE.

Below we will explain for those verification types the usage of the issuer. In all examples we used ‘Twizo portal‘ as the issuer.

TOTP

When you register for TOTP, a QR code is shown. When you scan this QR code with your Twizo Authenticator app a new TOTP code is generated every minute. As each website you login has an own TOTP, the name (issuer) of website is shown in the app.

Push

When you are verifying via push, you will receive a push notification in the Twizo Authenticator app. This notification will show the name of your website (issuer) to let the user know for which site he is verifying.

Messaging clients

When you are verifying via a messaging client, your messaging client receives a notification. The notification will show the name of your wesbite (issuer) to let the user know for which site he is verifying.
